Margot Robbie May Star in Tim Burton’s ‘Attack of the 50 Foot Woman’ Remake

The 50 foot woman wakes, breaks her chains and heads into town to get revenge on her no-good husband.

Last year Tim Burton announced he was working on a remake of the sci-fi horror movie Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (1958). Even more exciting, it was announced that Gone Girl writer Gillian Flynn would be writing the screenplay. However, after completing a first draft she has since left the project due to scheduling conflicts. Now, Margot Robbie is in talks to star as the title character.

Attack of the 50 Foot Woman is about Nancy, a wealthy woman in an unhappy marriage who makes contact with a giant alien. No one believes her extraterrestrial story and her husband just wants to get her committed to a mental institution (again) so he can steal her money and be with his mistress. When Nancy grows to giant size, she is sedated and restrained with chains. Eventually she wakes, breaks her chains and heads into town to get revenge on her no-good husband.

Margot Robbie’s work on Barbie (2023) makes it easy to visualize her in this role.

Previously a made-for-TV remake was made in 1993 with director Christopher Guest and Daryl Hannah starring as Nancy. It was not well-received.
